Hsin-Hsin Ming
by Seng-ts’an Third Patriarch of Zen Hsin-Hsin Ming (Verses on the Perfect Mind) was written by the Third Patriarch of Zen in the 6th century. It's considered the clearest and most comprehensive statement of Zen. The poem is a succinct and profound expression of non-duality according to Chan Buddhism. It shows the importance of a mental state of simplicity and non-attachment as the means to full enlightenment and inner peace. The text guides you to an understanding that distinctions such as right/wrong, good/evil, and other dualities are purely products of the mind that interfere with our natural state as pure awareness.
